Anna Childs

Anna has been designing and making furniture for more than 25 years and I still loves working with wood.

Anna’s designs have developed over the years and have been influenced by many styles: mainly Shaker, Scandinavian and the Arts and Crafts movement. More recently she has enjoyed the 1950s and 1970s revivals. She aims to make furniture that is beautiful, elegant and functional.

Anna makes mostly to commission and enjoys working closely with clients and guiding the design to meet individual budgets. Her methods are both traditional and contemporary, as appropriate.

She also likes to develop and research speculative pieces; she develops new techniques and styles that help to inspire her bespoke work. Anna lectures in furniture making at The Sheffield College and loves sharing her skills and developing new ideas with students.
