Jackie Prachek

Aboriginal, Pictish style, joyful, colourful. I paint with sticks, my hands, feathers and brushes onto hand made recycled stretchers. Inspired by natural history and ancestors.

I don’t think in words but in pictures, so never go anywhere without paper and pencils. I worked a long time as a cartoonist and illustrator which helped my sense of design. I have Aboriginal and Pictish/Celtic influences in style and narrative. I like acrylic because it doesn’t smell and I hand make my stretchers from old bed frames or up cycle them. Im given ideas from birds, animals, insects, water, light and rocks. I also paint my experiences, for example, zero hours contracts. Im currently looking at the work of Jeroen Krabbe and Fred Ingrams.
