My pots are slab and coil built. I use different layers of glazes, oxides, slips, a variety of clays and under glazes to achieve a rich and varied surface. My work is influenced by natural elements and formations, such as rock, and shell shapes, and music.
With my all my work colour and form are of equal importance to me. I wish to create a whole piece of which the colour must be part of the form, both inside and out. I also allow the material and it’s properties help inform where the work will go. This determines the colour and shapes used.
I taught for 13 years Design and Technology and Art at secondary level at. I have now left full time secondary teaching and spend more time on my own art work, tutoring pottery classes and workshops.
