After a working lifetime in heavy industry, chance gave me the opportunity to learn about portraiture. Attempts to capture faces and expressions in pencil and charcoal led to efforts with watercolours. This experience in turn encouraged me to try out working in clay. Initially constrained to conventional cup and bowl making, in more recent times I have discovered the enormous pleasure to be gained from learning to represent heads and figures in three dimensions.
My eventual aim is to use these works as to illustrate in a striking way various incidents from my earlier life which linger vividly in my memory.
