Christine Rodger

Following my interests in art, history and sailing, my work has local and travel themes, using mixed media, sketchbooks, and small models.

Through the medium of art and design there is a continuous thread from my childhood to the present. Quite a long journey which began with an interest in archaeology and history. My degree was in fine art, and slowly these themes began to merge over the years. Hardly realising it at the time, my small boat sailing experiences on the west coast of Britain and the sketch books produced were not only a pleasure but of value to my latest studies of the Brigantes Iron Age metalworking. The local archaeology dig at Whirlow in July 2016 produced some very exciting twists and new art work, but also connected events with a much wider picture. I have always enjoyed using mixed media, although the scale has changed, this now works for canvas, small models, and possibilities with my iPad.
