Denise Wrightson

Denise Wrightson

I make original paintings of clouds, landscapes, cityscapes and flowers. They are impressionistic in style, colourful and joyful.

I have a daily painting practice. I paint ‘alla prima’, which means quickly and intensively with highly gestural brush strokes and lots of colour. I use acrylic paint on watercolour paper and wooden panels. This year, for the first time, I entered one of the big artists’ open-call exhibitions at The Mall Galleries, The ING Discerning Eye and from 6500 applicants I was one of only 650 chosen. I shall be entering more!
