Jessica Turner

I print and stitch on to fabric to create contemporary artwork inspired by nature and mountains. One off pieces, cushions and lampshades available.

I recently returned to my home city of Sheffield after working and studying in London. I studied jewellery and silversmithing at degree level but found myself working predominantly with textiles. I subsequently did a textile foundation where I began to explore various printing techniques and combining it with stitch.

My work is inspired by nature, wildlife and landscapes. I am particularly influenced by mountains and large expansive landscapes. Time spent in the Alps, Iceland, Snowdonia and closer to home in the Peak District have heavily inspired me.

I create work by printing through stencils which creates the rough textures of the mountain landscapes, these are then hand embroidered to add colour and contrast. I make one off pieces of artwork and also soft furnishings for the home, such as cushions and lampshades. I have recently been experimenting with combining digital and stitched components.
