For the past year my work has been focused around my experience of Ecclesall Woods. I have worked with Sarah Sharpe, visiting the woods weekly recording our observations there by drawing, painting photographing and making – taking visual and written notes of the woods and its changes over the year. The woods have been our studio and we have been very experimental with our work, going in directions we didn’t expect.
I have found myself making studies in paint of details I have noticed. I am inspired by the tall tree stumps and twisted shapes of trees. I have worked in crochet in response to rotting tree stumps, and have worked in paper pulp, ‘re-growing’ tree trunks.
