I was inspired to take photographs by the magic of the process. I continue to take them because photography presents an ever-changing challenge, one that gives me a visual language. Photography allows me to share the things I’m interested in while exploring and developing ideas and ways of seeing.
I spent ten years documenting Sheffield’s cutlery industry as it entered the 21st century. The work provides an insight into the skill of the people who continue to follow this craft and provide a connection with the city’s roots.
My work has been published and collected internationally, exhibited in galleries and museums in the UK. I have held one man shows including in Sheffield and York and have participated in many local and national mixed exhibitions. My work is also held in National and Private collections.
It is a privilege to be able to present my work in Stuart Mitchell’s workshop.
