Sally Moreton

My work explores our scientific biology, both imaginary and metaphorical. Drawings, collage and mixed media fragments are used to illustrate my investigations.

Through my drawings I am revealing the bodies internal landscape. Why should surgeons be the only ones to have a unique view into our visceral biology? Whilst referencing real biological processes found in Medical Encyclopaedia or the Home Doctor, my illustrations are purely imaginary, far fetched anatomy. The microscopic details are portrayed using drawings, collage and deep textures made using thread. Pattern and decoration have a place in there too. Into this landscape I wish to weave a personal narrative – it is this body I have lived with and live within, it comes from the past and stretches into the future with its wealth of experiences to draw upon some of them surgical!
