Errol Sweetland

My abstracts are a journey of exploration and discovery, where finding a balance between chance and intention, play a large role in my creative process.

I discovered a passion for abstract art upon visiting art galleries and becoming inspired by modern masters such as Jackson Pollock, Piet Mondrian and other contemporary abstractionist such as Alex Echo, Bob Brighton and Bridget Reilly.

I am a self taught artist and each artwork I create, is a journey of exploration, discovery and learning, where finding a balance between chance and intention, play a large role in the creative process. Like any journey of exploration, the final destination cannot always be predicted but what evolves is a somewhat spontaneous and improvised finished artwork with its own unique energy and quality.

My artworks features a diverse range of abstract paintings styles, vibrant colours, and detailed patterns. For the most, there are no deep meanings or contrived ideas behind my artwork, just an overriding desire to encourage involvement, provoke emotion and leave a space where each viewer is free to imagine.
