Gerald A. Unwin

Besides modelling sculptural idioms, flat-back ware, traditional slipware, life-sized torsos & utensil pieces & domestic ware I produce wayward paintings & large photographic pieces.

Creative expression, aesthetic refinement, social comment & alternative humour play an important part in the formulation of the ideas I develop relating to my sculptural work. Having an educational grounding in traditional & contemporary ceramic processes & forms the basis for a wide range of practical, decorative & imaginative ceramics.

I accept commissions for commemorative platters, sculptural work, ‘statement’ pieces & everyday ware.

With work in collections across the world I price my ceramics, paintings & photographs to enable them to be enjoyed in the homes of those who appreciate my interpretations of form, decoration, practicality & genres.

The world at large has proved a never ending resource. The natural, the political, the ethereal & the downright ridiculous, all proving a stimulus for new pieces & original ways of observing & expressing the increasingly unbelievable.
