My recent paintings are an amalgamation of whimsy, vivid colours, joy and my own stylised animals, flora and fauna. I use pen and ink, and dye based watercolour paints on watercolour board. My inspiration often comes from my own back garden, of which I am particularly proud, and its visiting foxes, cats, hares, hedgehogs, badgers, and birds. I am an avid road cyclist (Yorkshire Rose Cycling Club, hence all the Roses in my work) and am on the constant lookout for scenic landscapes, wild birds, berries, mushrooms, leaves and creatures. Also having lived in Florida for some time, I am often drawn back to a ‘Tropical’ theme of sea turtles, flamingos, seahorses, fish, iguanas and brilliantly plumaged birds. if commissioned to create a piece I do my utmost to incorporate my quirkinesses into every request.
