Lyn Carruthers

I work in mixed media. My appreciation of Sheffield’s beautiful mature street trees and the benefits they bring to us all are a great inspiration.

My inspiration is often nature. I enjoy observing carefully what is around me.

Currently I am drawn to using my art to explore and comment on socio-political issues. Recently I have been using knitting, collage and charcoal. I facilitated Nether Edge Festival Trees We Love ‘Em Yarnstorming. I contributed a piece called Woolly Warriors to a woman only “Warriors” Exhibition in September hosted by Lizzie Biscuits. I submitted several pieces to STARTS (Street Tree Art Sheffield) and artist Dan Llywelyn Hall “The Fallen Boys Standing Trees” Exhibition in November. Finally I contributed to the annual “20 x 20” exhibition at Access Space in December.

I enjoy working collaboratively to create chants and songs developed out of my artistic practice which recently included a street tree chant. I exhibit and sell originals and reproductions of my work in pastels.
I run creative workshops and take commissions for bespoke cards.
