For the past seven years I have been developing a body of work entitled ‘The music of the landscape’. It wasn’t until we returned to the North eight years ago that I felt inspired to paint the landscape having now easy access to the North Yorkshire Moorland where I grew up. As a former musician, it seemed natural for me to combine my musical background with my artistic interpretations by looking for qualities of melody harmony and rhythm in the countryside around. I use acrylics, but do use mixed media on occasions and am just introducing water mixable oils as an alternative which I love. I try to express my love of these beautiful areas through exaggerated colour and gestural marks that give my work a unique identity. In 2018 I exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists and the Society of Women Artists in the Mall Galleries London.
