Nyaradzo Gwasira

My work is a mix of tactile materials and colour. I use my senses to develop my work as a visually impaired artist.
I was born and raised in Zimbabwe. I came to the UK aged 17. My heritage and experiences growing up in this country are a strong influence on my work. I make wearable art which is influenced by my Zimbabwean heritage.
As a visually impaired artist, I engage my senses in my work. I use touch to feel what I cannot see and work with tactile materials. I smell my materials which helps me decide what I want to use. I do have some vision, and this informs the colours and textures I pick. I only work with materials and colours I can see.
