Patricia O’Shea

Using sketchbook and notes I create drawings, prints and oil paintings in order to reflect my journeying and time spent in the natural environment.
My work is in response to the natural environment and is semi-abstract incorporating marks, line and textured surface through the use of brushwork, scraping and scratching the surface in order to depict landscapes and also a ‘sense’ of them in terms of light, time, weather, atmosphere and movement. I also represent internal imagined spaces which I often move into when in nature – so the sense of another time and space. One painting can incorporate different places, views, times, memory, the intimate and the wider view which reflect my experience of spending time within a variety of natural spaces.
I will be showing my work at 115 Gallery and outdoor studio alongside Caroline Fisher a print maker and painter and Jo Wood; a ceramicist. There are many artists close by to also visit and some great cafes and delis within a short walk from the venue. Look forward to welcoming you to our show.
