Trevor Fearnley

Karen Sherwood

I create wood and plywood sculptures that blend craftsmanship with humour and imagination. My work invites curiosity through playful concepts and intricate, often surprising constructions.

I work primarily in wood and plywood, materials that allow me to experiment with structure, balance, and character. My sculptures often carry a sense of humour and playful imagination, inviting viewers to pause, smile, and engage with the unexpected. I’m drawn to forms that feel familiar yet slightly off-centre, transforming everyday shapes into objects that provoke curiosity and storytelling.

The making process is as important to me as the final piece. Many of my works involve intricate builds, hidden joins, and layered constructions that reveal the craftsmanship behind them. This complexity is never intended to overwhelm but instead to spark intrigue—encouraging people to look closer, notice details, and discover the logic or whimsy within each form.

Ultimately, my practice is about creating sculptural moments that feel approachable and alive, bridging the precision of woodworking with the delight of imagination.
