Andy van Vliet
Contemporary ceramicist making both functional and decorative ware.
A design professional by day, I have been practicing as ceramicist for a number of years now. I produce a range of objects including bowls, vases, and sculptural forms inspired by Japanese and modernist precedents. Form and colour are important to me; my work includes natural forms and a palette of muted colours reflecting the Yorkshire countryside. I fire in both an electric and wood burning kiln: the latter as part of the Manor Wood-burning Kiln. My favourite ceramists include Lucie Rie and Hans Coper.
