Although I have always loved drawing and painting it is only since around 2008 that I have attempted to produce work, usually on canvas for public consumption. Initially under the tutelage of local artist, Kristan Baggaley who provided a small group of fellow aspiring artists with the impetus to explore and eventually to exhibit their creations. At first my work took a broadly abstract form but my style has become more figurative over time. My landscapes were increasingly concerned with urban structures and the way nature and the built environment came together. Sheffield’s unique geography, its post industrial quarters alongside its beautiful leafy suburbs are the source of my inspiration. Bright, dramatic skies seem to have become a signature feature of my paintings. Having said that I would like to think that my practise will continue to evolve and change.
