Dawn Ireland
Mixed media textile artist inspired by nature and the changing seasons.
My artwork is Inspired by the colours, textures and shapes i see in the landscape, and the flowers, insects and birds in my own garden. I use a mix of different materials including fabrics, paper, old postcards and vintage haberdashery as a base to work into with paint, mono print, collage and embroidery. Each piece is unique and the process very intuitive. I make a range of work including pictures, cards, buttons, brooches, kits and decorations. I completed a BA (Hons) Degree in Textiles at the UCE in Birmingham, graduating in 1994, moving to Sheffield the same year and setting up my studio. I teach regular textile art classes and workshops, host other workshop tutors and exhibit and sell my work through my website, shops and events.
