Finbarr Lucas
Finbarr Lucas and Oli Brereton transform local hardwoods into chairs and tables, display cases and shelving.
I trained in Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University 25 years ago, making wooden sculptures as part of my final show. After graduating, I started prototyping sculptural shelves and tables using a laminating process I had employed on the course, and I showed the results to shops and galleries.
I have now been working as a self-employed furniture-maker for 19 years. My interests have broadened out from the sculptural work I began making to include a passion for the material itself. I source timber locally whenever I can, and I have become known for my use of local beech, ash and other hardwoods, as well as reclaimed timber, to make a huge range of cabinetry and other furniture.
Oli Brereton joined the business in 2017.
