NEW to Open Up!

James Stringer

Designer metalwork in pewter and other metals made using silversmithing techniques and inspired by the natural world particularly “quirky”coastal and woodland themes.

Known as Quirky Metals, Jim and Laura studied 3D Design in Sheffield before working in the metal industry for years. Having set up a workshop close to home in 2014` they now make their designs in pewter mostly using very traditional techniques.Inspired by the natural world and organic forms their quirky designs are coastal and woodland themed and include clocks, decorative wall art, beetle and bug bowls, jewellery, coasters and bookmarks. Their work has won prizes in the National Pewter Live Design competition 3 times in the past 5 years and this has given them the confidence to become totally self employed. Their work sells through galleries and gift shops and has been described as modern day collectibles. Jim is the metalworker whose skill realises the designs in handcrafted pieces using casting, turning, raising and hammer skills. Over the past year they have sold directly through their web shop and have been more in touch with their customers than before.
