My current practice is working in abstraction with line and form to create individual Mimi weavings and large abstract paintings. The weavings are fragile structures and are an exploration of surfaces with texture and pattern, playing between the balance of tightness and lucidity. As with previous work there is still a strong undercurrent of architectural influences. The fragmented quality of each piece, is emphasised by the physical lines extending into ethereal ones. Light is passed through the weave creating displaced shadows.
My paintings reflect the urban environment that surrounds me. I build up colour to and intensity and then knock it back again so only glimpses come through. Process of laying colour and texture are key to creating my paintings I am always looking to achieve balance between the light and shadows.
