Maureen (Mo) Laycock

I work mainly with acrylics & oils, also occasionally using collage/ textiles using a sewing machine. My pictures are mostly a response to the natural world & are semi abstract landscapes.

My creative journey began at school, O/A levels & art college. I taught Art for some years, moving onto a deputy then headship, the latter for 17 yrs. In retirement I returned to art, downsized to Oughtibridge where I have a studio in the garden overlooking a pond with ducks & a resident heron. My work is generally a response to to a place, view, emotion/ atmosphere. I have always been influenced by Cezanne & Hockney but more recently by David Tress. I definitely paint for myself but if others like my work then that’s even better. Art is my therapeutic journey & necessary in my life.
