Trish O’Shea

Influenced by nature I sketch in pencil, charcoal and pen and create work in my studio in response, mainly in oils and acrylics.

I work in mainly oils, acrylic and collage and respond to and re-interpret the lines, marks and textures I make whilst out walking and sketching. I also refer to observational notes describing the environment to help inspire my paintings. My work is semi abstract and depicts the expanse and solidity of land and rock, the patterns and shapes within a hedgerow, or the ephemeral quality of an environment such as light, weather, atmosphere and movement. Whilst painting, imagined and remembered spaces emerge, or my notes will remind me of the breeze, the temperature or something small. One painting can incorporate a range of places, viewpoints and experiences and so become a layered record of time and memory. I will be donating a percentage of any sales to The British Red Cross -supporting people where the need is greatest.
