Finding inspiration in this beautiful part of the Hope Valley is easy. My studio is in an ancient beamed barn set below Stanage Edge.
Every day the colours alter with the ever changing weather. Even on a rain soaked day the moors show wonderful shades, from purple and burnt sienna to the glorious cobalt and violet of the gritstone rocks.
I use watercolour, pastel and collage to create colourful, bold and impressionistic paintings. Each technique, exciting and unpredictable, adds texture and atmospheric contrasts using the lively colours in my palette.
My lifelong love of drawing and painting led me to a degree in textiles at Manchester Metropolitan University, which immersed me in the opulent texture and colours redolent of the craft. This fascination now gives me a unique vision in my chosen medium.
