Kate Morgan

Inspiration comes from surroundings, stories. I scan in painted papers & drawings, working up the piece digitally and use my pen tablet to add detail.

My work is inspired by my local surroundings, travels, and stories. My sketchbook is always nearby with drawing pens and pencils in order to capture the moments that will then be developed into finished Illustrations.

Focus within my illustration is on people, textures and colour, all of which are created through a process of experimentation with paints, pastels, pencils on paper and on occasion, wood. These are then scanned into my computer along with sketchbook drawings and worked up digitally to create a final artwork. I use my pen tablet to draw in all the small details that you see in my work. I then have my illustrations printed locally onto quality paper which I then sell online and at local fairs.

I have recently began to use the painted papers that I have scanned in to create paper props. I use these props when I photograph my illustrated prints.
