Katherine Rhodes

Printmaker and painter. Currently my artwork focuses on Peak District landscapes, climbing and walking areas, and the coast. Printmaking includes; Linocut, collagraph, drypoint, woodcut.

My artwork is representational and uses traditional techniques and methods. I have painted for many years using a variety of media and a few years ago began Printmaking. Printmaking is now the current focus of my artistic output, although I continue to paint as part of my art practice. I utilise many similar thought processes for making prints as I would use for painting, with the knowledge and experience from one benefiting the other. The printmaking of rock faces and crags are made topographically accurate, such that climbers can pick out specific climbing routes and features that they know.

My work has been exhibited in galleries in Sheffield, Rowsley, Buxton, Birmingham, Macclesfield and Hull. In 2017, I was awarded a Derbyshire County Council Award for a linocut print in the 35th Derbyshire Open Art Exhibition. I am a member of Sheffield Printmakers.
