Maggie Robinson

I create bold colourful paintings with an underlying melody, harmony and rhythm found in our beautiful English countryside, capturing the musical appearance of the landscape.

My enduring love of the countryside stems from a very early age as I grew up in the beautiful landscape of the North Yorkshire Moors in a large, musical and artistic family. Spending all the school holidays out and about on my bicycle, embedded in me a deep love of moorland landscape and it is this area, plus the Peak District and Cumbria, that form the basis of all my work.

I aim to create paintings that are to be listened to! As a former musician I love to see things in terms of harmony, melody and rhythm and so I allow myself to interpret these elements rather than to record what is in front of me, it is what I feel rather than what I see, the essential rhythm of each landscape painted in the colours of the emotions evoked by it with perhaps just a touch of realism!
