Alex McArthur

I am a painter in watercolours, acrylic and oils and a printmaker. I inspired by the natural world, haiku and landscape traditions.

I have been a painter and printmaker of skies, trees and seas for as long as I can remember, inspired by landscape traditions. Since completing a Masters in Fine Art in 2006 I have been exhibiting my work both at home and abroad. I work in watercolours, acrylics and oils, enjoying the unique qualities of each medium. Recently I have been more involved in monotype printing techniques and how they relate to painting. I love this painterly form of printmaking that throws up surprises in colour, form and texture and new possibilities for expression

I have also worked in Textiles for many years and I have taught Art and Design to both children and adults and have had published two books on Textile design. You can view more of my process at
