This is my first year at Open Up Sheffield and I am excited to have created a mix of modern craft pieces. There will be appliqué, embroidery, punch needle and paper cutting alongside beautiful arrangements of pressed botanicals.
After completing a degree in graphic design I rejected the idea of being sat at a computer all day and instead like to use my hands to make. I love to learn traditional craft techniques and combine them with a modern aesthetic to create pieces for the home and to gift.
I owe my love of creative experimentation to my Granny. As a child I would spend holidays at her home which was a treasure trove of crafts she had collected over a lifetime. Shunning exciting day trips, I would beg for ‘home days’ when she would share her knowledge and materials with me around the kitchen table.
