Chris Pollard

Portraits in oils, influences John Singer-Sargent, Edward Hopper.

I have painted for many years. My focus used to be creating atmospheric landscapes of the Peak District and the Lake District, exhibiting my work across the north of England.

After 20 successful years I decided that i needed a new challenge, and following six long years in the wilderness I eventually found inspiration in the National Portrait Gallery, in particular the works of John Singer-Sargeant. His work seemed to reflect my creative wiring but in a genre I had never given much thought to.

That was 18 months ago and now I am enjoying the journey through this fascinating and diverse genre.
