My ‘small worlds’ models are 4×4″ and 6×6″. They have strong wooden bases and although some of the materials used are fairly fragile, they are all carefully sealed and pinned. A clear perspex cube conveniently fits these base sizes if required for protection or display. However, working on this scale requires careful thought. When I am selecting materials to complement the subjects I may choose from a range of my own digital prints, art papers, fine metal meshes, perspex tubes, recycled materials, plants and spices.
I also work on small canvases with acrylic paints and collage.
This year I have returned to subjects which i still find fascinating, such as the environment, development of tools, cultures and migrations. These provide me with very interesting research. My art explores aspects of change and moving subjects through a smaller lens.
