Since my training in Painting and Printmaking at Cardiff College of Art, I worked as an art teacher in colleges and schools until retirement in 2004. Since then I’ve been able to devote my time and energy to my own work. Attending print workshops enabled me to continue printmaking until I was able to set up my studio at home, complete with an intaglio press.
The inspiration for my work is observation of the natural world, using drawing and photography to develop ideas. Recurring themes are plants and fossils. Later prints are inspired by rock art, particularly cup and ring carvings. Working with two plates, I often make combinations of image, text and pattern.
Prints are unique, or are made in small editions. I regularly take part in touring Mini Print exhibitions and mixed shows in Wales and South Yorkshire.
