My interest in art has been life-long but I began to paint regularly when I retired from a career as a product / graphic designer.
I have always been inspired by the landscape and this remains my main genre. I have attended life classes for several years and have become fascinated by the portrayal of the human figure. I have painted a number of pieces from my life studies, placing the figure in an abstract or imagined setting. This is a theme I am planning to develop further.
I am currently working on landscapes in a variety of media, including mono-printed papers and collage, aiming to capture the texture and atmosphere of the landscape.
My main inspiration for landscape comes from many years walking and climbing. I am excited by the work of Bonnard, Matisse, Picasso, Klimt and Hodgkin.
