Paintings and drawings inspired by landscape especially Yorkshire crags and coast. Work in a variety of media and styles -lively, vibrant, atmospheric
I have loved painting and drawing from an early age and studied Fine Art and Film at Leeds University. After a long gap I re-engaged with my love of painting inspired by the scenery which surrounds me in Yorkshire and Derbyshire. I love the sharp contrasts of the grit stone edges and deep valleys – the patterns of erosion caused by time and the elements. The patterns of the sea also hold a particular fascination for me especially the elemental beauty of the Yorkshire coast. I work by walking and sketching outside, absorbing the atmosphere and working up my observations into paintings in the studio. I use a variety of media depending on the subject matter and like to constantly experiment, not being fixed to a particular style. My work is constantly changing – with my mood, the weather and the environment.
