Joanne Kitson

Traditional fine artist specialising in equestrian art and animal portraiture. Working in the mediums of watercolour, coloured pencil and graphite.

I am an artist specialising in equestrian art and animal portraiture. My passion for equine subjects goes back to my childhood where I spent much time at my local stables; riding and tending to the ponies. This teamed with a keen interest in art from a young age meant that horses quickly became my main inspiration. After receiving my first commission at the age of fifteen I began to build a body of work and through word of mouth began to sell work in local art exhibitions as well as receiving more commissions to paint animal portraits. I now maintain a practice based on observations from life and my own photographic material. By making sketches from life I strive to capture the individual personality and characteristics of my subjects. This ability has thrilled clients and collectors alike and my work hangs in private collections in the UK, USA and Canada.
