Jude Shore

Contemporary felt making and free drawn machine embroidery taking inspiration from the natural world to make decorative and functional pieces for interiors or fashion accessories.

My inspiration comes from the world around me, from the landscapes and rapidly changing weather, light and colours of the Peak District to the natural forms and found treasures on coastal walks.

As a textile artist I use a variety materials and techniques, recent work demonstrates how I use different felt making techniques to create unique surfaces and sculptural forms often with the addition of hand stitch and free drawn machine embroidery to add texture and detail. I like to work with natural fabrics and fibres and enjoy the challenge of reusing discarded scraps of fabric that would otherwise go to waste and exploring more eco-friendly ways of dyeing and colouring the fabrics I use. Whilst the outcomes can sometimes be unpredictable, this adds to the uniqueness as no two surfaces are ever the same.

make a range of decorative and functional items for interior spaces and fashion accessories.
