Katherine Rhodes

Printmaker and painter. Currently my artwork focuses on Peak District landscapes, seashores, and local climbing and walking areas. Printmaking includes; Linocut, collagraph, drypoint, woodcut.

My artwork is representational and uses traditional techniques and methods. I have painted for many years in a variety of media. In 2012, I began Printmaking and this is now my main artistic output. However, I continue to paint and draw as part of my art practice and utilise many similar thought processes for making prints as I would for painting, particularly with use of colour and colour mixing. The prints I make of local rock faces and crags are topographically accurate, such that climbers can pick out specific climbing routes and features that they know.

My work has been exhibited in Sheffield, London, Derby, Buxton, Birmingham, Macclesfield and Hull. In 2018 I was awarded the AIR Arts Prize in the Derby Print Open and in 2017 I received a Derbyshire County Council Award in the Derbyshire Open Art Exhibition.
