Katie Jamieson

Exploring themes of space/memory, fragility/transience, the impermanence of life/inevitably of change, I aim to redefine forms through the interaction of materials using mixed media.

My current practice is working in abstraction with line and form to create individual Mimi weavings. Theses fragile structures are an exploration of surfaces with texture and pattern, playing between the balance of tightness and lucidity. As with previous work there is still a strong undercurrent of architectural influences. The fragmented quality of each piece, is emphasised by the physical lines extending into ethereal ones. Light is passed through the weave creating displaced shadows.
