Lena Papapanagiotou

Landscapes, abstract still lives, water reflections, memories of travel in acrylics, oils, monoprints and collage. A reflection of my artwork of the last 20 years.

My work is influenced by visual effects of light, shapes, powerful landscapes and also emotions and memories. I paint with all media which I like to mix, mono-print, collage, anything goes as long as it takes me by surprise

There is usually a beginning of naturalistic study of the subject matter which gradually gives way to more interesting abstractions and reconstructions where the lines, shapes and above all colour, play an important part of the composition. I stop only when I feel I have deposited on the surface my untold feeling, a part of myself which the viewer is going to connect with.

I’ve been an active artist since 1988 when I graduated from the Athens School of Fine Art and have taken part in several art exhibitions. Since 2004 I teach ‘Say it with Colour’ art classes and as from 2010 I manage ‘Hangingwater Studio’ at Nether Green, Sheffield.
