Liz Cousins

I work in paper; cutting, folding, gluing and manipulating it. I am inspired by nature and images I see around me.

I have long had a passion for paper and I am constantly exploring different ways of using it; from popups to cut outs, from making tiny boxes to creating large installations.

In essence, my work is about cutting, folding, manipulating and gluing paper. I enjoy the energy that comes from paper folding and the process of revealing shapes as I cut into paper.

I often use natural forms from my garden and the countryside around me as the source of ideas but my inspiration comes from many places.

After a long career in education I now have more time to dedicate to what I call ‘cutting and snipping.’ It gives me great pleasure when something I create gives pleasure to others as well.
