I was a Secondary headteacher in Sheffield for 17 years, retiring in 2010. My first degree is Fine Arts and I returned to my first love of painting and textiles on retirement. We downsized to Oughtibridge in 2013 where I also have a studio in the grounds of our home and overlooking the famous Jarvil pond/dam. I am very much influenced by the impressionist art movement, particularly Cezanne and Monet. But I also love the work of David Hockney which often influences my textiles work. I am an Art returner and still learning. In so doing I enjoy doing courses and learning new techniques as my Art training was 1970-73. I have been pleased to have my work exhibited in the Derwent Gallery, Grindleford; Leabrookes near Alfreton, and the Cupola Gallery, Sheffield.
This will be my fifth Open Up Sheffield event.
