Mo Laycock OBE

I mainly paint semi abstract landscapes and more recently urban/industrial landscapes. I work using acrylics and oils, sometimes also multimedia and textiles work.

I went to Art College 1970-73 and then did PGCE, teaching for 37 years, including 17 years as a Secondary headteacher in Sheffield. I returned to my art work in 2011 after retirement.

I am influenced by the work of Paul Cezanne and the Impressionist movement, also Howard Hodgkin and David Hockney. I respond to the weather and walking in Derbyshire and locally: Bradfield, Worrall and Oughtibridge. I take pictures on the iPad and work these influences into my work.

We downsized to Oughtibridge in 2013 where I have a studio overlooking the Jarvil pond, complete with ducks and a semi-resident heron.

I work in my studio daily. I am now very much enjoying my creative journey in retirement.
