Nuala Price

My approach to art is fuelled by my Catholic Irish/Welsh upbringing, my working background in architecture and archaeology, underpinned by my strong feminist ethos.

My art is influenced by my working background in architecture and archaeology, by music, theatre, and film, and by my Welsh & Irish Catholic roots.

Feminism and Feminist Art was at the heart of my academic research (Sheffield Hallam University, 2000) and informed my artwork then and now.

My lifelong passions of architecture and engineering have been re-ignited by recent visits to Birmingham and Glasgow, where I used my knowledge and experience of photography to record and convey my reaction to the redefinition of these cities. Amazingly to me, some of these images evoke a more reflective aspect to my work.

Also, having moved to different studio spaces twice in 2018, I have re-discovered older, and in some cases, forgotten objects and projects (drawings, paintings, sculpture and textiles), which could lead to a plethora of opportunities…. I’m looking forward to exploring all these further.
