I live and work in Sheffield as a practising artist and tutor. My work is a response to places visited and imagined. I’m interested in capturing moments in time through line and mark as well as recording detailed elements. Whilst out exploring I sketch in pencil, charcoal, pen and ink and watercolour and these studies are used to inspire drawings, prints, collages and paintings in the studio. For me, there is often an ‘in between’ time and space that I occupy whilst working, when either outside or when in the studio – a time that is partly in the ‘now’ and partly in my imagination and dreaming. Often the work becomes an expression of my experience and memory, with sometimes just remnants of the actual places visited and viewed.
