Celia Bennett

Using dynamic brush strokes, my style is free and adventurous. I love colour and texture. My works aim to create the effect of movement, life, and light.

I use mixed media for my paintings and watercolour with ink for my sketches.

I’ve never lost the sense of delight an artist feels when someone really enjoys their work. It is magical when someone falls in love with a painting and connects with what you’ve produced. That, plus the act of creating the work, is what it’s all about for me.

I mostly paint in my studio, but also enjoy sketching and painting en plein air.
As well as creating my own work, I teach small group classes and enjoy doing workshops and demos. It’s wonderful to be able to pass on my passion for art.

My studio will be open 11am – 5pm for visits on the following days:

• Saturday May 4th
• Sunday May 5th
• Monday May 6th
• Saturday May 11th
• Sunday May 12th

My studio is in my converted cellar, so I’ll be working in my kitchen to make access easier, but you can also visit the studio.

As well as the work at her home studio, Celia also has many paintings and sketches on display at the brand new FABLE Delicatessen, which can be found at 959 Ecclesall Road S11 8TN. FABLE is open every day from 8am till 4pm.

• Ground floor with some steps.
• I live in an old cottage, so there are four slightly wonky old stone steps up to the front garden and another step up to the front door.
• I’ll have my work on the ground floor and be doing demos in the ground floor kitchen, but you’ll be welcome to visit my studio too, which is in the cellar. There is a handrail down to the cellar studio.
• There is no parking in Pendeen road, so you’ll need to park in Nethergreen Road, or a nearby street and walk along to my house.
