Sarah Joseph-Dasent

Sarah Joseph-Dasent

Sarah is a Trinidadian painter now living in Sheffield. Utilising acrylic on canvas, her semi-abstract work is inspired by cultural expressions and personal introspection.

Sarah Joseph-Dasent is an established Trinidadian artist who obtained her BFA in Painting and Set Design from Howard University, Washington D.C. USA in 1991, and since then has been exhibiting consistently for over 25 years in her home country as well as further afield.

Now making Sheffield her home, she finds that her new environment has influenced her current work significantly. She’s been warmly welcomed by the Walkley Edge Artists & the well-known Peak District Artisans with whom she’s exhibited widely over the past year.

Sarah is known for her vibrant layers of organic transparencies; each painting a distinctive
interpretation of the world around her. Utilising acrylic on canvas as her medium, her use of colour boldly reveals her Caribbean heritage.

Her choice of subject matter varies from the inspiring landscapes around her, to more introspective themes, oftentimes with a whimsical twist that she hopes would delight the viewer.
