Abbeydale Hamlet Creative Workshops

Melissa Montague and Martin McAssey are two creative workshops based at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, Martin McAssey Glass teaching glass workshops and Studio Budgie Galore teaching jewellery and metal workshops.

During open up we will welcome you into both craft workshops at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, Martin McAssey Glass and Studio Budgie Craft and well-being workshops. Come along a find out about our range of weekly classes and one day workshops. Most workshops are suitable for beginners, and are a great way to have fun learning a new skill and getting creative in the beautiful museum heritage setting. We will have a range of metal objects, jewellery and glass work on display as well as some examples from our workshops, so lots of lovely things to see.

The museum showcases the history of an 18th and 19th-century integrated water powered industrial works that remained in operation until the 1930s. Combine your visit during open up with a look around the museum site, it is free entry. We also have a lovely on-site Cafe Joni where you could book a table for lunch or pop in for coffee and cake.

We are also situated just a short walk from Eccleshall woods and Millhouses park so there are plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy as well. We have free on-site parking and plenty more parking just a bit further along Abbeydale Road.

The studio will be open 11am – 5pm for visits on the following days:

  • Saturday 2nd May
  • Sunday 3rd May
  • Monday 4th May
